The city of Banja Luka in northwestern BiH is the country's second largest, and the Krajina region's biggest. This part of the country is characterized by rolling hills and gentle landscapes. The city of Banja Luka is known for its fortress, called Kastel, the Vrbas River, "dajak" boats, spas, Trappist cheese, Nektar beer (originally brewed by the Franciscans), and Banja Luka ćevapi. It will soon be known again for the Ferhadija (1579) and Arnaudija Mosques (1595), which were destroyed in 1993.
In addition to seeing the sites in Banja Luka (1), visitors in can relax at one of the many thermal spas in this area (2), raft down the Vrbas River (3), view the waterfalls on the Krupa River (4), explore the Kozara National Park (5), and get to know the area surrounding the Kozara NP and the town of Prijedor (6).
